Girl Scouts Remodel Room in the Hall

posted May 10, 2013, 11:56 AM by Dows Prairie Grange Admin

In 2012 Cadette Girl Scout Sonja Bandy earned her Silver Award by organizing work parties and using her own labor to help renovate the back room at the Grange.  Some of the funding for this large scale project to benefit the Grange was provided by a grant from the Grassroots Grantmaking Fund at Humboldt Area Foundation.

Girl Scouts at the Grange

Our hall is used by many different Girl Scout troops!  They also do a lot of work on the building, we couldn't keep up the Grange without all of their help!

41 Girl Scouts from all over Humboldt attended a Global Overnight Congress
on the weekend of Jan. 21/22 to learn about the United Nations Millenium
Goals and third world problems.  The Grange kitchen was the site of "Third
World Meal" where girls were randomly seated at tables with different meals
representing the diets in Africa, Asia, and South America along with a full
table of food from North America.  In appreciation for the use of the
Grange, the Redwood Girl Scout Service

Three girls in Troop 70536: Stephanie, Emily, and Hannah were presented with their Silver Awards, the highest award that can be earned as a Cadette Girl Scout, for community service projects requiring a minimum of 50 hours of effort.
